Birdwood (Blumberg Hotel) – Schnitty Report
Service – Not too bad. Had to find our own “reserved” seat in the dining section, but since the Bay to Birdwood was on, I’ll let it go. However, for a particular busy day, it did not take long for the meals to come out and all together – very professional considering the demand that day. Tables were also cleared not long after finishing and they waited for everyone on the table to finish before clearing – a big tick in my view. 8/10
Atmosphere – Bay to Birdwood day – pub was full of car enthusiasts. Be interesting to see what its like on a normal weekend. Having said this, the crowd they had was all in good taste and handled well. 8/10
Schnitty Size – Not bad, actually perfect for a lunch serving. Any bigger and it would have felt uncomfortable. Chippage needs to be bigger, and salad (even though not a salad fan) needs a bit more of a variety. However going on schnitty size would give it a 9, but chippage brings it down to an 8/10
Schnitty Taste – Pan fried!! Not many places pan fry them resulting in a different taste (ie doesn’t taste like a mixture of things fried in the same vat). Together with a nice meat, crumbage style, the pan fried schnitty taste was blo0dy good – real home style taste. I’m gonna give it a 9.5/10 cos my mouth is still salivating thinking of it. Chips were nice and crisp too – just needs to be more.
Schnitty Price – $13.90 for a beef schnitzel (no sauce, just my lemon slice). That’s a good price for a country schnitzel. Happy with that as it was complimented nicely with the size of schnitty. 8.5/10
Overall Rating – I was pretty surprised. Wasn’t expecting as good as meal as I got. Definitely worth the drive up into the hills for a nice country meal. The fact that it was pan fried schnitty made my day. 8.5/10
